The Sky Ridge Spine & Total Joint Center is now open. This 60,000 square foot state-of-the-art, destination facility incorporates the vision of the state's leading neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons as well as the hospital's clinical team, including nurses, anesthesiologists, surgical techs, physical therapists and occupational therapists.

The Center, located on the east side of the hospital campus, features a private entrance, beautifully appointed reception and waiting area, seven operating suites with the latest technology, pre-operative and post-operative rooms as well as an education center for patients and their families. Following surgery, patients will recover on the dedicated Spine & Orthopedic floor, which was designed specifically to meet the needs of spine and total joint patients.  Sky Ridge, which performs more spine surgeries than any other hospital in Colorado, has assembled an expansive clinical team whose mission is to get patients on the road to recovery more quickly and with a better outcome.

The Design of Our Colorado Orthopedics Center

When designing this unit, Sky Ridge enlisted feedback from physicians and nursing staff to create an even more comfortable, healing environment for patients recovering from spine and other orthopedic surgeries. Here are just a few of those enhancements:

• The bathrooms have higher toilets, no lips in the shower and hand held shower heads, providing greater safety to patients 
  
• We created a therapy room on the floor for post-surgical rehab and step transfers following surgery
  
• The carpet has smooth seams with no transitions to prevent tripping and Sky Ridge has incorporated 15 ft. sections with varied patterns to measure patients' ambulation and recovery 
  
• The beds are equipped with alarms, scales and side rails that allow for safer transfers and easier access to plugs for ancillary equipment
